Do not have permission to access server..Apache server port 8100???
Why am I all of a sudden (from one day to the next) getting this error? this is happening when I try to get on IE and also on my Windows Media Player. DOES NOT HAPPEN with Mozilla Firefox browser. Says Apache Server Port 8100. Thanks.
Ok, besides telling me what I don't want to do, , please tell me what to do to fix the problem.
Something is causing IE -- and therefore Windows Media Player -- to attempt to access an Apache server on port 8100. This is probably malware of some flavour. Apache defaults to port 80 with port 8080 as a backup. Port 8100 is not regularly used by any program that I know of.
If you are running an Apache server on your computer, you would do well to check the configuration files. Some help on that can be found at http://www.easy-ubuntu-linux.com/apache-modules-ubuntu-configuration-2.html . Obviously, it is for a different operating system, but the principles of Apache's configuration are the same.
You want to ensure that, through apache2.conf, Apache is set to use port 80. If it is not, and you or your sysadmin did not change it, your system has likely been exploited. In which case, I would recommend you do a malware scan on your system. Even if you don't find anything, I recommend contacting an IT company that specialises in IT security.
