If you invented COLD FUSION in your basement would you be killed to stop it?

If you somehow invented cold fusion (electricity from water) in your basement this would render all natural gas-coal-nuclear power plants obsolite. It would allow all electric cars-trucks-trains and render gasoline/oil obsolite. Russia is sitting on 50 TRILLION $ of oil/natural gas...not to mention the Middle East oil and Venezuala and many others...What about EXXON...Those are very powerful people....If you did invent cold fusion in your basement and EXXON or Russia for instance found out about it, would you be hailed as the savior of the world or MURDERED to stop cold fusion?

OF course this is a hypothetical question because mankind may not get smart enough to invent cold fusion for another 4-5-6-7 centuries...but if YOU did invent it would you be a (filthy rich) hero or DEAD?
