Can people use DNS to get information such as login information?


Well I just put in 208.67.222.220 DNS server and didn't think if this can be use to get log in informations..... can it? Like can hackers get information from that like IP addresses?

DNS or IP doesn't matter it's how you've secured your network/PC. DNS simply gives your IP address a human-readable way to get to your IP.

Nope, the DNS gives only the name of the target, not its logon information.

To give a rough analogy: it's like, you tell someone, "I have a Yahoo! email account." That doesn't give them a way to hack into it, because they don't have the slightest hint of your Yahoo! email userid or password.

DNS is simply a distributed directory of domain names and IP addresses. It can however be used to fool users into visiting the incorrect host for a website, and stealing login information that way - hence why you should always use a reputable DNS service.
