first of all to the ps3 haters if you think the xbox is better,check out playstation home.enough said.anyway,when this happens to me i just normally turn off power to ps3 and modem then restart them and its fine but its rare when it happens.if its happening a lot then there could be something wrong with your connection.run a test on your settings.hope this helps mate!
