Moving DB2 and MS SQL Databases from one computer to another?

Moving DB2 and MS SQL Databases from one computer to another?

Hello,

One of my family members recently purchased a new computer with Windows 7. His old computer, a Windows XP computer has IBM DB2 Express and SQL Server Express installed on it and I have to move the data to his new computer for him. I don't have any experience with DB2 Express or MS SQL databases so your help would be appreciated. I've heard that the databases are stored in files and the files contain the information in the databases and you simply move the files to their respective locations in the new installations?

Thanks
Does anyone know where the files are located (assuming default installation methods) for the databases?

thanks

That's one way. A safer way is to have one site back up the database, and the other site restore it.
