What Is Oracle Software (Oracle Database) Typically Used For?
What are some things a company uses Oracle Database for (payroll, etc)?
I don't know much if anything about Oracle Database and it seems like I may need to know it for a few jobs I'm looking at.
Is Oracle Database something you can only learn on the job?
Thanks!!

Many of training institute runs oracle training, some of them are oracle certified and gives oracle certification after course end. This certificates r really valuable. You can search your local area for that kind of institute. Or you can buy a book of basic oracle learning and get self trained. But, oracle is not an easy software i tell you.

Yes it's like SQL. We used for our customer data base. It is always good to know your environment. Just get the book "Oracle9i for Dummies". Even though your not a dummie. Not to mean that you are a dummie. This is a good first book.
Good Luck

it is mainly used to store large datas in tabular form. Say in case if u want to maintain the details of salary given to employees. you use tables with coloumns like employees name, his number , his job , his salray.. etc.
the good thing is that if u want to know about a employees getting a salary more than 10 000... u just write some commands and woosh .. the info is in ur desktop....
this is the basic thing ...about database so if u want to know more ... u have to undergo training for it.
i give u 100% guarantee that it will be very very useful.
