Regarding PostgreSQL database startup.?
I need to check if postgreSQL is installed on the linux server. If yes, i have to start it. Please tell me how?

Open a terminal and:

$ postmaster

if the command is recognized, postgresql is installed.

To run it, I think the command is pg_start? Which is basically a wrapper for postmaster, the actual database server process.

$ man postmaster

should help you out. And ig pg_start isn't the right command

$ which postmaster

will show you where the postmaster executable lives, and in that same directory should be all the pg_start, pg_stop, the one to create the database cluster, etc.
