Is there a better division algorithm?

What is a better division algorithm than the simple convergence method? I know Intel uses some kind of radix-4 which, if I'm not mistaken, is pretty much just a highly optimized version of the convergence method.

I don't suppose there is a method that converges like the newtonian method?
