How to find out where a web visitor is from via with PHP script?

I want it so the script detects where they are from and echos their country.
How would this be done?

I know that $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] will get the remote IP address of the client. I think you will then need a database of IP to country mappings to compare against.
