Serious Question about E-5 promotion. Please have reference web sites that confirm...
...your answers.? As an E-4, can I be ORDERED to go to the E-5 board?
I have been an E-4 for exactly 6 months. I am NOT ready to go to the board. And my leadership put in a promotion packet for me withOUT my knowledge. And now they say they have "trouble" pulling my packet, and I have to go. I am PISSED!
So CAN THEY ORDER ME TO GO TO THE BOARD?!?!? IF NOT WHERE IS SOME EVIDENCE STATING OTHERWISE?

Yes, apparently you can. Most people would be happy with being fast tracked into a E5 slot. I don't understand why you are complaining about it. Get over it, study and accept the promotion. Here is a site to help you study.

Honestly, quit whining about this, accept that you are in the Army and deal with it!

My husband has been promotable for 8 months now and the points keep going up. So one be glad you might get this opportunity because down the road it might not be available to you, and two just because you pass the board does not mean you will be promoted right away.

I forget what the doc is called, but it's the one where all your promotion points are on. You have to sign it, but there is a box that says something like "I don't want to be recognized for promotion." If you don't check it, you won't be up for board. I'm sorry, but I can't remember which one it is. I'll look around and see which one it is. You could always fail a PT test or not meet height/weight.

Well you could always screw up.
I've never come across someone who didn't want a promotion though..
