how do you fix windows xp pro when the desktop freezes after clicking on the first
icon? explorer and firefox, desktop browsers stall out totally. after, or on, the first icon i click on to open .I reeboot and also use the msconfig comand line application. Still the same. any suggestions?

You're registry is messed up or RAM consumption is exceeding normal. Usually, problems like that happen when your computer uses more RAM than it should which lead to a system crash or freeze. It is related to a messed up registry which requires reinstalling Windows XP.
