I am trying to load windows xp media addition 05 on my Mac OSX and need help?

I am trying to load windows xp media addition 05 on my Mac OSX and need help?

I've gotton as far as boot camp assistant partitioning my computer with more than enough space for Windows XP media. I put in the disk it loads ect ect then it comes up with a screen saying there was an error press any key to restart. So I'm wondering if i am doing something wrong, main concern is the CD im using to load Windows is a backup CD, it says on the CD this software is already loaded onto your computer (meaning my old PC, now I'm trying to use same disc to load windows on my mac), is my problem im using the backup CD? or should I just try it again? I'm worried I'm going to wipe out my entire mac hard drive somehow and do not want to do that.
