How do I prevent my windows xp desktop from scrolling?

my desktop on windows xp seems to be giving itself a larger display area then my monitor's. I can "move" the desktop around by moving the mouse to the left, right, top or bottom of the window. When I lower my resolution to a smaller size, it stops this from happening, but I have a 22" widescreen monitor and would like to be able to use whatever size I want (that the monitor supports). The drivers are up to date. I believe this started happening after I right-clicked on a picture from the internet and selected "set as my desktop background". Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
I reinstalled the video card drivers and that did not fix the problem. I have the resolution set at 1680x1050 and it does not fix the problem. I believe there is a setting somewhere that needs to be fixed but I have no idea what that might be.
So I guess I should mention that I have had this monitor for over 6 months and it has been working fine. This problem just started last night. I have a dual monitor setup of 2 of the same monitors, and they are both set to the same resolution. The problem monitor just appears to be zoomed in, as the background image is larger and when I drag a browser window across monitors, the trouble monitor is larger.
Someone has to know how to fix this, please help!

Chances are your monitor's native screen resolution is 1680x1050 if it's a 22" widescreen. Try that, but to be sure, looking on the manufacturer's website will help. If you have a 22" widescreen Samsung, it's most likely that resolution.

Good luck.
