What drivers need to be reinstalled after reinstallation of windows xp

Hi

I recently reinstalled windows xp on my laptop(it's a dv1000 more specifically a dv1492) and I wish to upgrade to windows 7(I have the disks). I wanted to know which drivers do I need to install on my laptop(if any) in oredr to upgrade to Windows 7 because I know that as soon as install windows 7 all of a my files will be lost. Also this somewhat off topic but I was wondering if anayone could tell me some precautions I should take before installing Windows 7?
