confused with .xml files. help!?

confused with .xml files. help!?

I'm not sure what program to get to be able to read the .xml files i have. i have a few of them and they are of my msn chat logs, but i cant open them with anything. ive tried downloading programs to try and read it, but all i get is coding. please i really need help and if someone could give me a link that lets me to be able to actually read the file and not the coding of the file, it would make me a happy bunny!
